Starting this week, we have two new interns joining us for the summer – Jackson and Andrew. Read their introductions below and get excited to see them around Force here soon!
“My name is Andrew Schmalfeldt and I’ve been involved with athletics in many ways since I was 5 years old. I’ve been an avid runner most of my life, most recently I’ve developed a passion for rock climbing! I fully believe that being involved with athletics can help anyone find a passion for living and being healthy. I know this because my coaches throughout my running career have shaped my diet and mentality on fitness into what it is today.
I’m excited to be at Force because the second I walked in the building, I knew that this place was designed to motivate and allow athletes to develop into the superstars they are. The coaches are very focused, and determined to provide their athletes with a training program specifically designed for them to succeed in their sport(s). I’ve never seen a training facility quite like Force’s, and I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to help coach these athletes and watch them succeed. I’ve found a passion for coaching, through my rock climbing gym, and am very excited to learn more about what it means to be a great coach, just like the coaches I’ve had in the past.”
“My name is Jackson Bertoli, I begin graduate school in the fall at IU studying Kinesiology with an emphasis in Applied Sport Science. I graduated from IU in May, with a degree in Health Fitness and Coaching, where I was a member of the varsity cross country and track and field teams for four years. I’ve had a passion for coaching since high school, having been influenced and mentored by great coaches I strive to pay it forward to those I work with. I believe that training should be approached holistically and that success in any aspect of life, especially in the weight room, is built upon trusting relationships, hard work, communication, and fun. My motto is “Every day, in every way, we’re getting better!”
Force is highly respected throughout the strength and conditioning community, often regarded as one of the best gyms in the Midwest. With a history in endurance training and more recently strength and conditioning and speed development, I want to continue to expand my knowledge in each respective field and I know that Force is a great place to grow as a young coach. I look forward to immersing myself in such a knowledgeable environment and doing my part being a member of the Force team.”
