Cheat Meals That Help You Lose Fat
Around Bloomington we have some amazing restaurants that have great food. However eating out isn’t always the best thing if you are trying to get in great shape. In a later post I may talk about my favorite places to eat in Bloomington to help you lose weight and stay in great shape but this post is all about cheat meals that can help you lose fat.
No, I am not kidding, but the truth is these recipes or meals are actually healthy for you and aren’t really a cheat but they do take your typical “cheat” foods or “junk” foods and use healthy ingredients to make them delicious!
Here are 5 of my favorite that I wanted to share with you today!
1) The Cauliflower Crust Pizza
I know I have shared this one before, but I think that it is so good I wanted to share it again for any new readers in our group. This one is delicous if you follow the recipe. You can exchange goat cheese for parmesean if you want. This is the real deal and it fills you up with tons of servings of veggies and fiber!
2) The Protein Peanut Butter Cup!
This one takes some prep time but it is well worth it! I LOVE peanut butter and my all time favorite candy is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups so this one is a dream for me! If you don’t want to take the time with this one you can make some peanut butter balls that are much easier to make: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsNzjnrSf4g
3) Cake Batter Shake
I was a bit skeptical about this one but once I tried it my mind was quickly changed, it is now one of my all time favorite shakes and you can play around with the flavorings to get fancy! I leave out the spinkles, but that is just because I am a tough guy 🙂
4) Cottage Cheese Pancakes
This is one from my own kitchen! I fell in love with the cottage cheese pancakes at Michael’s Uptown Cafe here in Bloomington. I don’t care what you may think about cottage cheese, these are delicous, but I am sure they are not great for you. I created my own recipe at home for this and it is best used after a morning workout but can be used any time.
Start with 1/2 cup rolled oats, you can use the basic oats you would use to make oatmeal. Throw them in a blender or food processor. Then add in 1/2 cup egg whites and 1 whole egg. Add 1/2 cup low fat or non fat cottage cheese and blend up. You can add less egg whites if you want thicker pancakes or add in some almond milk if you want thinner. You can play around with the recipe as needed. Addding in a bit of baking powder with vanilla or chocolate protein is also a great way to get a thicker cake and add some protein.
Throw them on the griddle for a few minutes and you have some great healthy pancakes. I put a bit of Smart Balance Light or Coconut Oil on them and then a little sugar free syrup. MMMMMMMM!
5) Protein Peanut Butter Chocolate Mouse
I told you that I loved peanut butter 🙂 This is one that Kim made for me and it was delicious. A great snack at night or dessert that is the perfect size. Try it out and let me know what you think.
