Sticking With It

In today’s world, we are accustomed to the mentality that when we want something we can get it right at the moment. If you are hungry and do not feel like making food or getting up you can order food and get it brought to you, these days you can even have your groceries delivered to you. We often make tasks easy as we can and get them done with the least amount of work. In essence this not a bad way to live life; we all want to be as efficient as possible and make things happen as quickly as we can. Unfortunately when it comes to fitness, things do not happen as quickly as we would like.

Often, individuals end their fitness journey early because they do not see the results they are hoping for as quickly as they think they should be seeing them. When this happens, it is easy to become discouraged and want to give up. Whatever your fitness goals may be, attaining them is often a long process that requires consistency and the ability to stick with it. Whether you like where you currently are or not, you didn’t get there overnight, and to either reverse that lifestyle or continue to make additional progress, you won’t see a change instantly, either. The good news? The process of pursuing a goal adds meaning to the goal itself. Change happens through a continuum of self-evaluation, habit change, accountability, and reassessment. Learn to embrace the process, and you will be golden. Often, when someone is discouraged and getting ready to give up, the results that they are hoping to achieve are right around the corner.

It is much easier said than done; it is definitely hard to stay positive and to keep sticking with it when you feel like you are working really hard and not yet seeing progress. I encourage you to keep pushing for your goals and to continue to be consistent and to stick with it. In today’s world it is easy to fall into the mindset that whatever you want you can have it right now at this moment; but with your fitness goals, nurture the mindset that the process makes the reward greater. Keep pushing hard and going for whatever goals you have and stick with it.
